Track milestones
Mark the key phases and delivery dates of your project, link work to them, and watch progress against the programme.

Milestones are the dates the project is judged by: design freeze, tender issue, practical completion. They live under Plan, next to the work items that get you to them.
Create a milestone
- 1
In your project, open Plan, then Milestones.

Save. The milestone joins the list in date order, so the list reads as the shape of the programme.
Link work to dates
A milestone with nothing behind it is just a date. Connect your work items to the milestone they serve, and the milestone becomes a live measure: as items close, it moves; while they sit open, it warns you.
Watch progress against the programme
Check the milestone list in your weekly review. Each milestone shows how the work behind it is tracking, so an at-risk date stands out weeks early, while there is still time to act on it. When a date genuinely moves, update the milestone so the plan on screen matches the plan on site.
Tip
Keep milestones few and meaningful. If everything is a milestone, nothing is: aim for the dates a client or site manager would actually put on a wall.
